There is no question about the fact that if good Google (or any search engine) results are needed, the one vital factor is that the site in question have sufficient numbers of links. The links must also be of the correct type to garner the desired results.  A Web site called 1WayLinks claims to have discovered the pattern and design of links that will render a site a good Google ranking.

The service requires the customer to create an account, then post a Wordpress blog.  Each customer is granted two hundred fifty blog posts per month, and each of those can contain three hyperlinks. The resultant seven hundred fifty links are then active on the over two thousand one hundred blogs maintained on the network.

The most obvious benefit of this service is that it is specifically designed to give Google precisely what it wants and needs to deliver high rankings for a site.  1WayLinks also offers the benefits of true one-way links (as opposed to reciprocal links) as well as IP diversity.

This is vital, as Google will ignore multiple links from the same location. The service also activates links slowly (which is a natural progression), which is compatible with what Google recognizes.

Customer reviews of 1WayLinks are mixed.  Customers report that the service is conscientious about posting submitted articles (i.e. “the blogs were getting posted”) and that the cost is reasonable (“…it seemed well worth trying for $47 a month”). However, there is a concern about the longevity of the postings hosted on 1WayLinks.  One customer reports “…at the 120 day mark, the site had disappeared from the Google index”. Another states that the site’s policy about what qualifies to be posted and what does not is enforced with “total arbitrariness”.

A review of the customer-supplied information nets the following conclusions. The 1WayLinks network is criticized for:

  • Lack of a clear policy regarding posting guidelines
  • Not maintaining longevity of links
  • Promoting multiple links which are actually duplicate content

Conversely, fans of the service point out that there are advantages to 1WayLinks that include:

  • Rapid start-up and ease of use
  • A reasonable monthly fee; less than most competitors
  • Articles do get indexed (provided they are adequately unique)

Ultimately, there is no reasonable way to state unequivocally that 1WayLinks (or any backlink hosting service) will or will not be effective for one enterprise or another. One of the most common conclusions is that constant monitoring of the effectiveness for a specific business or site is paramount.
